The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department will close lanes on Interstate 440 from the Arkansas River to the Interstate 40 interchange while work crews reconstruct a section, beginning today.
The eastbound outside lane will be affected first. Work crews will close it today, so the contractor can begin work on temporary widening and temporary ramp installation. An erosion-control system will also be installed.
The agency expects the project to be finished in late 2017, weather permitting.
