THE SKINNY: Nutri-Grain's latest offering is crumby.
That's not a statement on quality, but on content. Nutri-Grain has introduced Bakery Delights, featuring coffee-cake flavors like Lemon Crumb Cake With Poppy Seeds and Cinnamon Crumb Cake. (I'm told there is a Blueberry, but it wasn't in stock at Target, 402 S. University Ave., when I shopped.)
The bars (five per box) are individually wrapped in brownish paper as if to look like they came from a local bakery instead of a large supermarket.
Not that their origin would cause any confusion to a customer eating them; while in taste they are subtly sweet (and not bad for 160 calories), they are rather dry in texture.
