Artist 'on the Map'

Artist Jessica Mongeon, whose work is on display in an exhibition titled "Chromatic Synergy" through Monday in the Windgate Gallery at the newly renamed University of Arkansas -- Pulaski Technical College, will discuss her work at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the college's Center for Humanities and Arts Theater, main campus, 3000 W. Scenic Drive, North Little Rock. The talk is part of the college's Big Rock on the Map Series. Admission is free. Email wtrieschmann@pulaskitech.edu.

Mongeon, a faculty member at Arkansas Tech University, explores geographic formations, organisms and natural phenomena in acrylic paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installation art.

Symphonic Band

The University of Central Arkansas Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall, UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The program will include RS-1 by Lamont Down, with graduate student Nathan Rakow on the podium; A Bernstein Tribute, to commemorate the 99th birthday of the late Leonard Bernstein; "Come Sweet Death" by J.S. Bach, conducted by graduate student Mykala Parker; "Seventeen Come Sunday" by Percy Grainger; and Satiric Dances by Norman Dello Joio. Brantley Douglas will conduct Rondo Jubiloso by John Zdechilk, featuring members of the Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma fraternities. Admission is free.
