It occurs to certain slow editors that, after a few emails and phone calls, perhaps more than a few of our Gentle Readers haven't yet heard the news. Thomas Sowell, long of these pages and conservative thought in general, retired his column last month.
We see a line or two coming from his folks now and then. Writing is a hard habit to break. (Trust us.) But his steady, reliable, and clear column on politics and, most importantly, economics is now a steady, reliable, clear and former column. More's the pity.
We wish Thomas Sowell all the best in retirement. We also wish it'd be easy to replace him--but are finding out otherwise.--eds.
