BENTON COUNTY

First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., presents Presbyterian missionaries Cindy and Les Moran speaking at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday about their medical mission work in Bangladesh. A potluck dinner is served at 6 p.m.

The youth will lead the service at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 26, followed by a pancake brunch.

The church offers an Ash Wednesday service with imposition of ashes at 7 p.m. March 1. The church plans a community prayer service for the World Day of Prayer from 6:30 to 7 pm. March 3.

The church offers "Reflections on the Journey: Aging, Death and Final Preparations" starting March 5. The five-session class includes discussion, guest speakers and resources. Registration is $10 and requested by Feb. 27. The classes will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoons.

First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, 1901 S. 26th St., features two Cub Scout packs that meet at the church during the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Cub Scouts from Pack 12 and Pack 81 will serve in various capacities.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 902 S.W. Second St., Suite E, Bentonville, offers a new class on meditation practices from 9 to 10 a.m. each Sunday, starting this week. Mantras, guided meditation, using the five senses and other methods to benefit daily life will be discussed.

The church plans a movie night at 7 p.m. Friday, screening the film Love Thy Nature, about the climate and environment, narrated by Liam Neeson.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hudson Road, offers a free mission workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Part of the "Mission U: Equipping to Share Worship" program, this session focuses on "tough questions" about God and Christianity.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, offers "Starting Point," an eight-week small-group program for people discovering the faith, beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday.

A Sister2Sister game and fellowship night is planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday. Side by Side Ministry for single senior women will tour Feb. 25 the new exhibit at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. Prior to the tour, they will eat lunch in Springdale. A carpool from the church leaves at 11 a.m.

A new ministry for college-age students meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday nights at the church for a meal and Bible study.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors the Disciple Women's Celebration at 10 a.m. today, featuring a presentation on the Village House Adult Day Program by Heather Corporan.

The Men's Disciple group meets at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 18, with Bill Keller as the speaker.

A fellowship potluck meal is planned after the worship service Feb. 19.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, sponsor the children and youth while they attend a cooking school today and, using what they've learned, serve a meal this evening. The meal is a fundraiser for youth mission projects and costs $8.

Midweek Manna is held each Wednesday beginning this week. A fellowship meal is served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for a donation of $5 for adults, $3 for children younger than 10, with a family maximum of $15. Small group study, craft and activity groups and programs for children run from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.

Classes include Our United Methodist Footsteps, Knitting for the Soul, a women's Bible study, The Bible -- the Mini Series Encore, Living Single With Confidence, Bella Vista -- My Hometown, Coloring Your Way to Calm and UMW Crafts. Childcare is available. Elementary children will learn Bible basics. If needed, time for homework is provided.

The church has printed a cookbook, 40 Years of Potluck, with about 400 recipes from 104 contributors. The book is $20 and available in the church office.

The Neighborhood Church in Bentonville, 2003 S.W. Regional Airport Road, presents "Popcorn Theology" with the movie Turbo from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25. A boxcar derby is planned.

The church holds an Ash Wednesday soup supper and service March 1. The supper is served at 6 p.m., and the service begins at 7 p.m.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

The Tibetan Cultural Institute of Arkansas presents a mental health seminar on death and dying from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Student Union Theater on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. Seminar leaders include Sidney Burris, director of the honors study program; Dent Gitchel, assistant professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; Geshe Dakpa Topgyal, who holds a doctorate in Buddhist philosophy and religion; and Geshe Thupten Dorjee, an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas.

Registration is $25 for UA students and $50 for others.

Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale, 1506 W. Robinson Ave., offers several helping ministries, beginning this month.

Single and Parenting meets from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday for 13 sessions, starting this week. The content will show how a single parent can create a positive atmosphere in the home. A discussion group accompanies this class from 7 to 7:55 p.m. each Wednesday.

DivorceCare meets from 4 to 5:45 p.m. each Sunday for 13 sessions, starting this week. The class is designed to help ease the hurt of a separation or divorce.

GriefShare meets from 6 to 7:45 p.m. each Wednesday for 13 sessions, starting Feb. 22. The class is designed to help survivors learn to cope after the death of a loved one.

DivorceCare for Kids meets from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. each Wednesday for 13 sessions, starting Feb. 22 The ministry is designed to help first- to sixth-graders completely heal from the pain of divorce through a Bible-based lesson and stories.

All sessions feature a video seminar. Childcare is provided. A small donation is requested for the workbook.

St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith, 1301 S. Albert Pike Ave., presents "A Taste of Solidarity II," dinner and entertainment, from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 18 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith, 2112 S. Greenwood Ave. The event is a fundraiser for the monastery's scholarship program for girls in Guatemala. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. In addition to Latino food, the Ballet Folklorico Salvadorena and groups from four different Catholics schools will perform.
