INCREDIBLE, NONEDIBLE EGGSHIBITION

'17 Eggshibition cracks open some new twists at pre-party

Still riding high from a successful 2016 Eggshibition fundraiser and fueled by some new aspects added for the 2017 affair, officials and friends of Youth Home Inc. gathered at Drawl Southern Contemporary Art the night of Feb. 9 to help the excitement spread.

Eggshibition pre-party attendees included glassblower James Hayes, owner and operator of the James Hayes Art Glass Co. in Pine Bluff. His works will be among those featured at the main event, slated for April 7 in the Jack Stephens Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Nationally celebrated artists, as well as new and emerging talent, work with plaster eggs, ostrich eggs or create their own eggs from their own unique medium. The finished eggs come in all shapes, sizes and themes. This year's soiree will also feature live and silent auction items, music by Rodney Block, libations and fare by Ulysses Wafford and his team at Forever Yours Catering. Co-chairmen are Ashley and Chris Haynes, district manager for Ben E. Keith Foods-Little Rock. Both are stalwart supporters of Youth Home, doing more than just writing a check.

For the event at Drawl, Ben E. Keith Executive Chef Shane Henderson created rabbit rillette on corn pancake, pedestals holding assorted meats and cheeses, herb biscuits with Petit Jean ham and cherry wine jam, pastrami rubbed smoked salmon, farro salad with basil vinaigrette and ricotta, chicken salad, ham salad, homemade crackers and homemade chowchow.
