Black history forum slated

In honor of Black History Month, a public forum sponsored by Public Discussion Northwest Arkansas will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies’ Peterson Auditorium, 1000 SE Eagle Way, on the campus of Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville.

With the goal of sharing a wide range of the black American experience, a panel of presenters will include a member of the city of Harrison’s Community Task Force on Race Relations, a member of the Racial Impacts in the Arkansas Criminal Justice System Research Project, a discussion of Black Americans’ unique and widely unknown contributions to the defining of America, and an opportunity to gain insights into how to communicate about racial injustice in such a way that it is possible for hearts and minds to be changed.

Audience questions will be invited after each presentation. This event is free and open to the community.
