The Northwest Arkansas Ostomy Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. today at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. The theme for this meeting will be "The good, the bad and what we can learn." There will be an educational meeting beginning at 1 pm.

The Washington County Retired Teachers Association will meet Monday at the Western Sizzlin' in Springdale. The buffet lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. The business meeting will start at 12:15 p.m.

AAUW

The American Association of University Women will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fayetteville Underground, 101 W. Mountain St. in Fayetteville.

The program, facilitated by Sharon Killian, will view the current exhibit that recognizes and celebrates black artists during Black History Month. Killian is president of the board of the Fayetteville Art Alliance/Fayetteville Underground, president of the Northwest Arkansas African American Heritage Association and art instructor at the University of Arkansas.

AAUW membership is open to people who have received a college degree, including an AA or RN and focuses on education and issues of women and children.

Pieces 'N Patches

Pieces 'N Patches quilt group will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for a three-day quilting retreat at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 S. 26th St. in Rogers.

The event is free for members, otherwise there is a $10 per day fee. Lunch will be provided with additional items contributed by participants.

The group meets at 12:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month for programs and at 10 a.m. on the third Monday for workshops. Snacks will be served on program days, and participants bring their own lunch on workshop days; beverages will be provided. Visitors are welcome.

Democrats

Kathy Webb, a Little Rock City Board director and former Democratic state representative, will address Senior Democrats at noon Tuesday at the Western Sizzlin' restaurant in Springdale. Webb is the director of the Hunger Alliance in Central Arkansas. Georgia Ross, president of Senior Democrats, urges all are Democrats to attend this meeting.

Republicans

The Washington County Republican Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cross Church, 1709 Johnson Road in Springdale. Enter through the south entrance under the porte cochere, then turn left immediately to the kids' theater. Participants are instructed to bring in bottled water only; no soft drinks or coffee. There will be an election of a new treasurer, so everyone is urged to get there by 6:15 p.m. to get registered before the meeting starts.

GOP Women

The Benton County Republican Women's Club will meet Tuesday. Randy Alexander, former member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, will speak about a Convention of States.

For those concerned about the future of the country, this is the constitutional option to return the country to its original vision of a limited federal government that is of, by and for the people. Bring an open mind and questions.

BCRW meets at noon the third Tuesday of each month at the Pleasant Crossing Golden Corral in Rogers. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m.

Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the General Store on the grounds of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

The program will be presented by Mark Drummond, who will speak about Civil War era photography. Drummond is a professional photographer who utilizes 19th century technology in his own work.

The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in Civil War history.

Democrats

Benton County Democrats will meet Feb. 27 at Golden Corral, 2605 W. Pleasant Crossing in Rogers. Lunch will start at 11 a.m., and the meeting will begin at noon. The featured speaker will be former Circuit Judge Jon Comstock. He will speak on "Our Justice System: Status Quo or Change."

Genealogists

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet 6 p.m. Feb. 27 in the Rotary Room at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. Jerry Nichols of the Pea Ridge Historical Society will present a program on the early history of Pea Ridge, a community that began before Arkansas statehood in 1836.

Photographers

The Photography Club of the Ozarks is holding its annual Spring Photography Competition. The competition is open to anyone age 18 and older and will be held at the historic Hotel Seville in Harrison. Photographs will be set up for display on March 30 and will remain there until April 27. Prize money will be awarded in each of the three categories: First place $75, second place $50, and third place $25. Plus, there will be one overall winner as Judge's Choice who will receive $100.

The clubs meets at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at North Arkansas College, South Campus, Room M-138. New members and guests are welcome.

Mystery Group

Nightbird Mystery Book Group meets at 6:30 p.m. every second Thursday at Nightbird Books, 205 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville, to discuss a mystery, true crime or thriller. Members pick the books, which are offered for a 10 percent discount at Nightbird the month before. The group focuses on diversity within the mystery genre, including classics to modern thrillers to psychological whodunits to police procedures. Newcomers are welcome.
