After trailing the entire first half, senior guard Ashlen Rogers' layup with six minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the third quarter gave the Lady Pirates their first lead, 23-21.

Greenland (23-5) extended the margin to 40-28 with an 8-1 run in the fourth quarter that was triggered by key defensive stops.

"We wanted to get them off their spots on offense," Barton said. "Their offense was very different in the second half with some foul trouble and maybe being a little tired."

After making 8-of-14 shots in the first half, Perryville (15-16) was just 3-of-18 on its attempts in the second half.

"We had a good first half and everything just worked well for us," Perryville coach Kodi Speers said. "We were getting good shots inside where we wanted them. Their shots were not falling in the first half."

Wilson helped the Lady Pirates put the game away by scoring nine points in the fourth quarter.

"Once we got that lead, you just got to keep it going," Barton said. "Outside shots were not falling. So we just stuck with it. We got them moving fast, and we attacked the basket."

Perryville's Whitney Woods had a team-high 18 points to lead the Lady Mustangs in their final game of the season.

Greenland hit just two of its first 15 shots from the field, which allowed Perryville to build a 11-6 lead by the end of the first quarter.

"The plan was to get them moving," Barton said. "I don't think we did that in the first half. They are big, so that takes away what we want to do a little bit. But if we can just move them without fouling. I think that second half showed it."

The Lady Pirates hit 50 percent (5-of-10) of their field goal attempts to close the deficit to 21-19 at halftime with Wilson leading all scorers with 11 points during the first half. Greenland did tie the score at 5-5 after answering the Lady Mustangs' 5-0 opening run with a 5-0 spurt of its own, but never lead until Rogers' third quarter layup.

Lamar 73, Cedarville 51

Freshman guard Lakyn Sanders and senior guard Madison Wyles helped get the Lady Warriors offense going early and often during a decsive first round victory.

Sanders scored a game-high 28 points while Sanders added 22 to help Lamar (23-5) punch its ticket to the 3A state tournament.

The Lady Warriors built a 17-3 lead after the first quarter. They were held scoreless over the first 3:20 of the second and the Lady Pirates outscored them to trim the margin to 30-21 at halftime. But Lamar began puling away in the second half, including a 23-13 scoring advaatage in the fourth quarter.

Cedarville (12-17) was led by Channel Kattich scoring a team-high 19 points, while Patience Wise added 13 for the Lady Pirates.

Brandon Fenner checked out of the game with 39 seconds remaining to a loud round of applause from the home crowd at the Tiger Center.

The senior guard earned the cheer with a career-high 48 points for Charleston in a first round win that secured the Tigers' spot in the state tournament. Typically a long-range shooter, Fenner sank just one 3-pointer on his way to the career performance.

Fenner ignited the Tigers' offense with nine points in the first quarter and heated up even more with 18 second quarter points. He then closed out the game with 16 points in the final quarter.

Phillip Hampton added 12 points for Charleston (20-9).

Perryville (19-11) was led by Mathis Bouvert with 19 points and Garrison Branscum with 18 points. Chandler Roland also finished with 11 for the Mustangs.

Lamar 64, Greenland 41

Lamar built a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and extended to 34-18 by halftime.

Greenland (4-19) bounced back in the third quarter by outscoring Lamar 15-8 to cut the margin to 42-33 heading into the final quarter.

Senior forward Porter Anderson capped an 11-3 run to open the fourth quarter with a dunk that pushed the lead to 53-36 and the Warriors never looked back.

Lamar (24-5) was led by Christian Beeman's game-high 15 points while Anderson added 14.

Zac Wolfe and Will Overton paced the Pirates with 13 points apiece.
