Style: Oscar Race

Movie talk this week is naturally dominate by speculation about Sunday night’s 89th annual Academy Awards show so, as is our custom, we’ve gathered a panel of heavily invested Oscar watchers to predict who’ll win what. (This is for entertainment purposes only. Please no gambling.)

But this week also sees the opening of two films that come at the problem of race in America from opposite ends of the spectrum. Our Philip Martin reviews Raoul Peck’s documentary about the writer James Baldwin, I Am Not Your Negro, while Piers Marchant looks at Jordan Peele’s horror comedy Get Out, which sounds a little like a 21st-century take on Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?. (With maybe zombies.)
