Lampo hit two 3-pointers early while scoring a team-high 10 points in the first quarter to help build a 19-7 lead. The Lady Lions didn't look back after that.

"She has done that all year long and that doesn't surprise me," Jessieville coach Matt Carter said. "I'm really proud of her effort. You could tell with the way she was juiced up early she really wanted this. We followed her lead."

Allison Coleman finished with a team-high 13 points for Elkins (18-11). Jessica Boaz also added 11 points for the Lady Elks.

Jessieville (25-4) took a 31-18 lead into halftime with a strong first half shooting the ball, making 12-of-17 shots from the field before the break.

The Lady Lions opened the first quarter making eight of 10 field-goal attempts to take a 19-7 lead after the first quarter.

"We hit some shots and that was key for us," Carter said. "You could see they wanted to double our post players. But we still hit some shots. It was good to get off to a nice start."

Elkins made just 3 of 12 shots in the first quarter but improved in the second quarter by making 5 of 13 attempts to help keep pace with Jessieville in the quarter.

"We tried to keep it close there in the second quarter," Elkins coach Monica Wells said. "But Lampo is such a good player. She changes everything you want to do. When they get a lead, it makes it very hard."

Lampo led the way in the first half for the Lady Lions by finishing with a team-high 18 points. Lampo also scored eight of the team's 12 second-quarter points.

"They came in shooting very well," Wells said. "That puts a lot of pressure on you because they have a lot of weapons. We just had to try to guard them."

Jessieville was able to build on its lead in the third quarter by using a 9-0 run right after the break to extend its lead out to 40-18.

Elkins was limited to just 2 of2 12 shooting in the third quarter but did make 7 of 12 attempts in the fourth quarter to finish the game strong.

Elkins was able to outscore Jessieville 19-10 in the final quarter behind the strong shooting performance. The Lady Elkins used a 12-3 run to close out the game.

"I thought our defense was good all night long expect for late in the game," Carter said. "We got comfortable with the lead and relaxed. You can't do that. But I'm still proud of the girls."

Although the Lady Elks season comes to an end with the first-round tournament loss, Wells said she was proud of her team and what they accomplished this season.

"These girls played well this season," Well said. "This is the first year in a combined conference and we held our own against 4A teams. These kids never quit, and they showed that tonight. They were down but not out."
