• Joe Lyons, president of the Southwestern Supply Company, has returned from a two weeks' trip during which he visited the great tractor demonstration at Kansas City, where upward of 100 tractors were on exhibition and in the field for demonstration. "These tractor demonstrations," said Mr. Lyons, "draw such crowds that although I wrote two weeks ahead, I was unable to get a room at any of the big hotels and had to go to the suburbs to a sort of private or family hotel to get a place to sleep."

Feb. 25, 1967

• Pulaski County law enforcement officials Friday received their copies of Governor Rockefeller's letter notifying them that State Police have observed gambling violations in the County and will move in to stop the violations unless local officials act by noon Monday. Prosecuting Attorney Richard B. Adkisson, after reading his copy, wrote a letter of his own to the heads of all law enforcement agencies in the County stating, "If this information [on open and notorious gambling] is accurate, then it is indeed an affront to the laws and people of the state of Arkansas and particularly to the citizens and residents of Pulaski County.

Feb. 25, 1992

• North Little Rock police closed East Broadway to traffic for more than an hour Monday and evacuated some residents and merchants after a possibly explosive device was found in a vacant building. The device, found inside the former Century Motors building at 1100 E. Broadway turned out to be inactive, said Bill Buford, resident agent in charge of the Little Rock office of the federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau.

• Two North Little Rock police officers shot and killed a man Saturday afternoon just down the street from City Hall after he threatened them with a knife and stick, authorities said. The shooting occurred a few dozen yards from a police station, said Sgt. Terry Kuykendall, police spokesman. The man was identified as 25-year-old Nathan Rideout of North Little Rock. The names of the officers were not released. The two officers responded to a 911 call at 2:27 p.m. to investigate reports of a man wielding a knife and stick at 500 E. Broadway. The officers saw the man in the 500 block of Main Street, approached him and ordered him to drop his weapons, police said.
