WASHINGTON -- Freshman Kamar Baldwin scored 16 points and No. 18 Butler followed its upset of No. 1 Villanova with an 85-76 overtime victory over Georgetown on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (14-2, 3-1 Big East), who upended the defending national champions 66-58 on Wednesday, never trailed in the overtime to earn their third consecutive victory.

L.J. Peak scored 21 points and Jagan Mosely added a career-high 20 for the Hoyas (8-8, 0-4), who lost their first four conference games for the first time since 1998-99.

Georgetown had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Peak's turnaround jumper at the buzzer clanked off the rim.

Georgetown guard Rodney Pryor entered the day tied for the conference lead in scoring at 19.8 points per game, but was held scoreless on eight shots. That was offset by Mosely, who reached double figures for only the second time this season.

The Hoyas did a solid job on Kelan Martin, Butler's top scorer on the season who averaged 26.5 points in two games against Georgetown last season. Martin scored 13 points on 3-of-13 shooting.

In other games involving Big East teams Saturday, Justin Patton had 20 points and Maurice Watson Jr. scored 11 with 14 assists to help No. 10 Creighton beat Providence 78-64. Marcus Foster had 17 points and Khyri Thomas added 16 for the Bluejays (15-1, 3-1 Big East). Emmitt Holt scored 17 points and Kalif Young had nine rebounds for Providence (11-6, 1-3). ... Edmond Sumner had 20 points and seven assists, leading a balanced offense that swept No. 16 Xavier to a 97-82 victory over St. John's. Xavier (13-2, 3-0) has won six consecutive games since consecutive road losses at Baylor and Colorado. Marcus LoVett scored a career-high 32 for St. John's (8-8, 2-1). ... Angel Delgado had his ninth-consecutive double-double, Desi Rodriguez scored 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting and Seton Hall cruised to an 87-56 victory over DePaul. Rodriguez made a layup, a dunk and then hit a three to give Seton Hall (12-3, 2-1 Big East) a 7-2 lead it wouldn't relinquish. Billy Garrett Jr. had 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Blue Demons (7-8, 0-2). ... Kris Jenkins scored a season-high 23 points, Josh Hart had 19 and No. 1 Villanova returned to form with a 93-81 victory over Marquette. The Wildcats (15-1, 3-1 Big East) bounced back from their first loss of the season at Butler. Markus Howard led the Golden Eagles (10-5, 1-2) with 21 points.

Duke prevails

DURHAM, N.C. -- Freshman Jayson Tatum matched a season high with 22 points, and No. 8 Duke held on to beat Boston College 93-82 in Jeff Capel's season debut as Hall of Fame Coach Mike Krzyzewski's temporary replacement.

Grayson Allen had 12 points and 11 assists, and the Blue Devils had six double-figure scorers in winning their first game at Cameron Indoor Stadium without Coach K since 1995. Krzyzewski had back surgery Friday and is expected to miss roughly four weeks.

The Blue Devils (14-2, 2-1 ACC) shot 55 percent but blew most of a 25-point lead, with the Eagles chipping away over the final 10 minutes and pulling to 88-82 on Ky Bowman's reverse layup with 44.1 seconds left.

Tatum hit four free throws in the final 42 seconds to put Duke back up by double figures.

Jerome Robinson had 21 points for Boston College (8-8, 1-2).

In other games involving ACC teams Saturday, Donovan Mitchell scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half Saturday to lead No. 9 Louisville to a 65-50 victory over Georgia Tech. Louisville (13-3, 1-2) used stifling defense in the first half and the long ball to beat Tech (9-6, 1-2) for the sixth consecutive time. ... Terance Mann scored 22 points and Dwayne Bacon added 17 as No. 12 Florida State defeated No. 21 Virginia Tech 93-78. FSU, which has won 11 consecutive, improved to 15-1. Virginia Tech (12-3, 1-2) scored the first six points and led for the first 10 minutes before the Seminoles went on an 11-2 run. ... V.J. Beachem tied his career-high with 22 points and No. 23 Notre Dame remained undefeated in the ACC with a 75-70 victory over Clemson. Matt Farrell added 15 points for the Irish (14-2, 3-0). Jaron Blossomgame had 22 points and eight rebounds for Clemson (11-4, 1-2). ... John Gillon scored 20 points and matched his career high with 11 assists, Andrew White had 21 points, and Syracuse beat Pittsburgh 77-66 with a daunting long-range attack. It was the second consecutive victory for Syracuse (10-6, 2-1 ACC), which broke a five-game losing streak to Pittsburgh (12-4, 1-2 ACC).

Baylor unbeaten

WACO, Texas -- Manu Lecomte scored 17 points, Johnathan Motley had 13 and second-ranked Baylor closed in on the school's first No. 1 ranking with a 61-57 victory against Oklahoma State.

The Bears (15-0, 3-0 Big 12), one of two unbeaten teams in the nation along with No. 5 Gonzaga, are in position to reach the top of the poll after No. 1 Villanova's 20-game winning streak ended Wednesday -- the same night Baylor beat Iowa State on a late jumper from Lecomte.

Phil Forte had 17 points to lead the Cowboys (10-5), who started 0-3 in conference for the first time since 1995-96, the last year of the Big Eight before it merged with the Big 12.

In other games involving Big 12 teams Saturday, Frank Mason III scored 26 points, Devonte Graham added a season-high 20 and No. 3 Kansas used a big second-half run to put away Texas Tech 85-68. The Jayhawks (14-1, 3-0 Big 12) pushed their home winning streak to a nation-leading 51 games. Aaron Ross and Zach Smith had 17 points each for the Red Raiders (12-3, 1-2). ... Daxter Miles Jr. tied a season high with 22 points and No. 7 West Virginia needed a late burst to beat TCU 82-70. Esa Ahmad added 16 points for West Virginia (13-2, 2-1 Big 12). Alex Robinson led TCU (12-3, 1-2) with 17 points. ... Wes Iwundu led a balanced attack with 16 points and Kansas State used a strong first half to defeat Oklahoma 75-64. Oregon wins again

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Chris Boucher scored a career-high 29 points off the bench to help lead No. 15 Oregon past Washington State 85-66 for its 13th consecutive victory.

Dylan Ennis added 17 points for Oregon (15-2, 4-0 Pacific 12), which won despite leading scorer Dillon Brooks being ejected early in the game.

Four players scored in double figures for Washington State (9-6, 2-1), which had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Washington State led 16-15 when Brooks was called for a flagrant foul on Josh Hawkinson while they battled for the ball and the Ducks star was ejected with 13:20 left in the first. Brooks had already scored seven points, half his average.

Boucher filled the void, making 10 of 14 shots from the field and adding 8 rebounds.

In other games involving Pac-12 teams Saturday, freshman standout Markelle Fultz had 20 points and Matisse Thybulle added 17 as Washington rolled past Oregon State 87-61. Washington (8-7, 1-2) led 43-28 at the half, then opened the second half with a 13-2 run. Oregon State (4-13, 0-4) was without leading scorer Tres Tinkle, who was injured Nov. 25, and has lost 9 of its last 10. ... Kyle Kuzma scored 19 of his career-high 26 points in the second half and grabbed 12 rebounds, helping Utah hold off Arizona State 88-82. Utah (11-4, 2-1 Pac-12) built a nine-point lead behind a second-half run keyed by Kuzma, only to allow Arizona State to claw its way back in the closing minutes. Shannon Evans scored 21 points and Kodi Justice 17 to lead the Sun Devils (9-8, 2-2). ... Lauri Markkanen scored 22 points, shooting 4 of 5 on three-pointers, and No. 17 Arizona held off a late Colorado surge to beat the Buffaloes 82-73. Dusan Ristic scored 17 for the Wildcats (15-2, 4-0 Pac-12). George King had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Buffaloes (10-6, 0-3).

SMU scores

DALLAS -- Semi Ojeleye scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Jarrey Foster had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and SMU won its 10th consecutive with an 84-65 victory over South Florida.

Sterling Brown added a season-high 19 points to go with five rebounds and five assists for the Mustangs (14-3, 4-0 American Athletic), who have won 15 consecutive at home (11 this season).

South Florida (6-8, 0-3) led 11-10 early in the first half, but the Bulls scored just three points in the next eight minutes, allowing SMU to take a 28-14 lead with 6:55 left.

The Bulls pulled to 46-41 with 16:10 remaining but the Mustangs responded with a 6-0 run and led by as many as 23 in the second half.

Troy Holston led USF with 20 points and six three-pointers, both career highs.

In other games involving AAC teams Saturday, Daniel Dingle scored 19 points, Ernest Aflakpui had a career-high 13 points with 10 rebounds and Temple beat East Carolina 81-62. Quinton Rose added 14 points and Mark Williams scored 13 off the bench while Obi Enechionyia had 12 for Temple (10-7, 1-3 AAC). B.J. Tyson, averaging a team-high 12.3 points, finished with just eight points on 4-of-12 shooting for East Carolina (9-8, 1-3). ... Kyle Washington had 19 points and nine rebounds as No. 22 Cincinnati beat Houston 67-58. Troy Caupain added 13 points, Jacob Evans had 12 and Gary Clark chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds for Cincinnati (13-2, 3-0 AAC). Rob Gray led Houston (12-4, 3-1) with 21 points.

BIG TEN

Terps victorious

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Justin Jackson scored 15 points, and Maryland's freshmen kept their poise in the second half, holding off Michigan for a 77-70 victory.

The Terrapins (14-2, 2-1 Big Ten) led by 11 in the first half, but Michigan (11-5, 1-2) had the deficit down to one early in the second. Every time the Wolverines were on the verge of moving ahead, however, Maryland had an answer. The Terps went 10 of 15 from three-point range.

It was 71-68 when Jackson fought his way inside for a basket with 48 seconds left. Michigan's Derrick Walton Jr. drove for a layup -- capping a streak of eight consecutive made field goals by the Wolverines -- but Anthony Cowan calmly made two free throws at the other end, and Maryland held on.

In other games involving Big Ten teams Saturday, James Blackmon Jr. scored 25 points, Thomas Bryant finished with 20 and No. 25 Indiana defeated Illinois 96-80 for its first Big Ten Conference victory of the season. Indiana (11-5, 1-2) led for the entire game, and was up by as many as 22 points. Jalen Coleman-Lands and Malcolm Hill scored 21 points each and Maverick Morgan finished with 18 for Illinois (11-5, 1-2). ... Lamar Stevens scored 18 points and Tony Carr had 14 to lead Penn State to a 72-63 victory over Michigan State at the Palestra. The Nittany Lions (10-7, 2-2 Big Ten) led almost the entire game. Nick Ward scored 16 points and was the only player to have a decent game for the Spartans (11-6, 3-1).
