Framed for Murder: A Fixer-Upper Mystery - Singer Jewel has the lead in new mystery franchise

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is debuting yet another made-for-TV movie franchise with the introduction of The Fixer Upper Mysteries. They're based on author Kate Carlisle's novels set in the small resort town of Lighthouse Cove.

Singer-songwriter Jewel has the lead role as Shannon Hughes, an expert in Victorian home restoration who stumbles across clues hidden in the old houses, uncovering past secrets and becoming an unlikely sleuth to crack unsolved mysteries.

The premiere in the franchise is Framed for Murder: A Fixer-Upper Mystery. In this film, Hughes gets a partner in crime solving when her new client (Colin Ferguson) offers to help solve her friend and neighbor's untimely death. It airs at 8 p.m. today.

Other franchises on the channel include Garage Sale Mysteries (Lori Loughlin), Murder She Baked (Alison Sweeney), Gourmet Detective (Dylan Neal), Aurora Teagarden (Candace Cameron Bure) and Flower Shop Mysteries (Brooke Shields). And for fans of older detective shows, the channel airs reruns of Columbo; Hart to Hart; Murder, She Wrote; Matlock; and Diagnosis Murder.
