I see that the color Pantone chose for its hue of the year for 2017 is a vibrant green named Greenery. I was wondering how to incorporate this color in my home. It is very lively and cheerful but I don't want to overdo the use of it. It is very soothing but also very bright. I am wondering which other colors would pair with it. And should I use Greenery as the main color or just add it into my home interior as an accent hue? Please help guide me how I could place this shade in my home without taking it too far.

"I love using green in my interiors, and the new Greenery color from Pantone is a bright, fresh version of green," says interior designer Tobi Fairley, whose business Tobi Fairley & Associates is based in Little Rock.

To avoid overwhelming a space with the vibrant color, she recommends using it in smaller, more contained areas.

"This would be a gorgeous color to use on the walls in a breakfast room, where great pops of color go a long way," Fairley says. "If you use it on walls, keep your furnishings more in the neutral family and use just a complementary color in the accessories."

For those who aren't as comfortable working with color, Fairley says it "would be fabulous" on upholstery like a sofa or a pair of wing chairs.

"You could also bring it in on draperies and pillows, accessories and florals," Fairley says. "The great thing about green is that it mixes so well with other colors, and this shade would be amazing with navy blue, or coral, or even a bright gold."

Pantone, in its website, also suggests pairing what it describes as a "versatile trans-seasonal" shade with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels, and metallics.

The color stands out when matched with black, white, and tones of gray. When paired with tans and browns, the shade feels as natural as those combinations of shades do when they appear together in the great outdoors, she says.

Speaking of which, another quick and simple way to bring this hue into a home's interior design is by bringing in plants -- from ivy to ferns -- from outside into the home's living spaces.
