Style: So far, so good

It's tempting to believe that film is in decline and television is ascendant; and in this age of superhero franchises designed to play as well in Shanghai as Peoria that may well be true. But if you think about it — and we have — the 21st century has provided us with some pretty good stuff. Last week our critic Piers Marchant chimed in with part one of his Top 20 films since the turn of the century. This week he concludes his story with his Top 10. And our Philip Martin wades into the fray, with a Top 20 or his own.

In other news, Dan Lybarger reviews the latest superhero franchise movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming which attempts to return the webslinger to his snotty teenager roots and interviews Brett Haley, a 33-year-old director who has established himself as a maker of movies for the more experienced among us. His latest, The Hero, allows the venerable Sam Elliott a star turn. And there's Karen Martin's weekly home video round-up. All in Friday's Style section in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
