Woman hospitalized, girl missing after 'incident' in Arkansas creek, authorities say

Authorities responding to a reported drowning in Northwest Arkansas said a woman was taken to a hospital and a girl is missing Friday evening.

According to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Benton County sheriff’s office said there was "an incident" in War Eagle Creek.

The Rogers Fire Department said around 5 p.m. Friday that it, along with at least three other agencies, were traveling to the War Eagle Mill area after a drowning involving three people.

Sgt. Shannon Jenkins, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, later confirmed to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that only two people were involved. Jenkins said authorities were not yet sure what happened.

Also reportedly responding were the Beaver Lake Fire Department, Benton County Division of Public Safety and Piney Point Fire Department.

Additional information was not immediately available Friday evening. A call to the Rogers Fire Department went unanswered.
