All White Affair turns all green for EMT assist

The eighth annual Firefighters All White Affair, held July 1 at the Little Rock Marriott, took on multiple forms, yet stayed consistent with local entertainers. The results were described online as "epic" and "a huge success."

The popular fundraiser was presented by its beneficiary, FIRES (Finding Incentives Reaching and Empowering Students) and Vibe Events, as a way for FIRES to raise money for emergency medical technician scholarships.

Jeanette and Little Rock Fire Chief Gregory Summers helped welcome guests of all ages who showed off their casual, sporty, club-theme, elegant and dapper white ensembles. They mingled at a VIP party in the second-floor lobby, at tables in the Grand Ballroom and in and around cabanas on the River Top outside the ballroom. VIP tickets, the only ones that included food, sold out quickly. Drinks were from a cash bar.

Comedian Jeremiah "JJ" Williamson was master of ceremonies for the evening, which featured music in the ballroom by the On Call Band, Jay Jamerson and The Rodney Block Collective, and recorded music inside and outside by DJ Greyhound and DJ Nick Hud.

The event grossed $15,000. FIRES will award at least two scholarships this year, bringing the total to 16 awarded since its inception, said Chief Fire Marshal Joseph Gray, who is also executive director of FIRES.
