JONESBORO — Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Jonesboro man at a home that was shot at the night before.
Jonesboro officers found Dewayne Antoin Manning, 23, outside an apartment complex in the 400 block of North Bridge Street at 6:30 a.m. Friday, said Jonesboro Police Department spokesman Paul Holmes.
Medical personal transported Manning to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses reported seeing a man flee the area, and members of the city’s Special Weapons and Tactics team searched a home on nearby Allen Street but did not find anyone, Holmes said.
Officers obtained a warrant for Alex Rankin, 39, of Jonesboro on a charge of first-degree murder.
Officers responded Thursday night to the Bridge Street apartment complex after residents reported hearing gunshots. No one was injured then. Holmes said police indicated someone drove by in a car and shot at Manning’s apartment Thursday evening.
It is the third homicide this year in the Craighead County city of 72,210.
