U.S. 67/167 lanes to undergo shifts

Construction on U.S. 67/167 in Pulaski and Lonoke counties will require traffic shifting onto temporary pavement beginning today, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Northbound traffic using the Arkansas 5 exit at Cabot will be directed to a temporary off-ramp while the permanent off-ramp is reconstructed. This transition is expected to occur today, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs, the department said.

In addition, three areas along John Harden Drive, which is a frontage road on the west side of the highway in Jacksonville, will be shifted onto temporary asphalt to allow phased construction of new box culverts. This transition is expected to begin at the start of next week as construction allows and weather permits. Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs.

The work is part of a $79.2 million project to widen 4.6 miles of U.S. 67/167 to six lanes from four lanes between Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville and Arkansas 5 in Cabot.
