• J.L. Lippiens, aged 49, a carpenter, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 310 Victory St., from injuries received at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon one mile north of Levy when he fell under the wheels of a two-ton truck in which he was returning home after securing work at the cantonment. Lippiens was riding in a truck driven by Ernest Neal, 617 Izard St., an employee of Nowlin Lumber Company, 724 Izard St. The truck was followed by Henry Page, negro, 1712 High St., also driving a Nowlin Company truck. Page attempted to pass Neal and the rear wheel of his truck struck the front wheel of Neal's truck.

PINE BLUFF -- Vice President Humphrey may come to Arkansas to see the unique Young Citizens Camp for low income children, Governor Rockefeller announced here Thursday. The governor was in the Pine Bluff area on one of his regional tours of the state. He made the announcement at a meeting with local legislators and county judges at the Pines Vocational Technical School. The camp, the first of its kind in the country, is designed to provide a summer program of recreation and education for about 1,300 boys and girls. It will open Saturday at camp Robinson.

BENTON -- The alleged rape of a teenager, which fueled the controversy that could close the Alexander Youth Services Center, will never come to trial. The alleged victim, 14, and his family have moved to Oregon and will not return to testify, Saline County authorities confirmed Monday. Prosecuting Attorney Dan Harmon of Benton said authorities are no longer certain where the victim's family is, since they have moved from their last address in Oregon.

PINE BLUFF -- A Pine Bluff man was ordered held without bail Friday on a capital murder charge in the beating death of a 9-month-old boy. Judge Robert Wyatt Jr., ruling in Jefferson County Circuit Court, found probable cause to detain Traveles Bullard, 21, in the death of Jermauri Craig. Bullard, standing before Wyatt in an inmate jumpsuit, told the judge that he understood the charges against him and that he planned to hire his own attorney. The suspect's next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7.
