Arkansas vehicle accidents kill 3 drivers, 1 pedestrian

At least four people died from separate accidents recently, authorities said.

An 87-year-old woman hurt in a two-vehicle crash earlier this month died of her injuries two weeks later, state police said in a report released Monday.

Faye Geisler of Brinkley was pronounced dead around 10:40 a.m. Friday after an accident July 1 in which the vehicle she was driving struck a guardrail on U.S. 70 in Prairie County, according to authorities.

Police say the two-vehicle wreck happened around 12:50 a.m. that day as Kristan Treyvontae Marquis Cotton, 20, of Conway was traveling east on the highway.

Cotton's 2017 Chevrolet Avalanche traveled onto the south shoulder, at which point the driver veered back onto the road and crossed the centerline, a preliminary report states.

An eastbound 2013 Cadillac driven by Geisler could not avoid a collision and struck Cotton's vehicle.

That caused both vehicles to strike a guardrail and come to a rest in westbound traffic on U.S. 70.

Geisler and Cotton both suffered injuries as a result of the crash, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The report said at least one of the injured drivers was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as clear and dry.

An Arkansas pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a Chevrolet while crossing a highway in Baxter County on Sunday night, police said.

A 2006 Chevrolet was heading west on U.S. 62 at the Gassville city limits around 11:15 p.m., according to an Arkansas State Police report. The Chevrolet struck 34-year-old Joshua Wilkerson of Mountain Home, who was crossing the highway from the north side, the report said.

Wilkerson suffered fatal injuries. The Chevrolet's driver was unhurt in the wreck, police said.

Conditions were said to be clear and dry at the time.

An Arkansas man was killed after being ejected from a truck that struck a telephone pole and overturned early Saturday in Independence County, police said.

Ronnie Brackett was heading south in a 2008 GMC truck on Arkansas 25 north of Locust Grove shortly after 2 a.m., according to an Arkansas State Police report. The GMC veered out of control, went into a telephone pole and rolled over multiple times, ejecting Brackett.

Brackett, a 51-year-old Locust Grove resident, suffered fatal injuries, police said. No one else was reported hurt in the wreck.

The weather was reportedly foggy and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

An 83-year-old man died after his vehicle left a roadway in Pulaski County and ran into a large rock Wednesday morning, officials said Monday.
