ROGERS -- Rep. Grant Hodges, R-Rogers, said he will seek a third term in the state House representing District 96.

The district includes parts of Rogers, Lowell, Avoca, Garfield and Gateway. It also covers much of eastern Benton County.

Hodges has consistently voted for tax reductions in the Legislature and, in the last session, was a sponsor of bills that passed and eliminated 14 state boards and commissions.

"I have consistently voted pro-life, pro-gun and have received high marks from conservative organizations, the NRA and the business community," said his announcement statement, which was released Tuesday.

Hodges has also worked across the partisan aisle. He was the leading House sponsor of successful legislation last session that separated the state and federal celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday from the state celebration of Gen. Robert E. Lee's birthday.

Besides his work in the Legislature, Hodges joined Rep. Gregg Leding, D-Fayetteville, in an unsuccessful effort to convince the Washington County Election Commission to put a polling location on the University of Arkansas campus.

Hodges is a member of the House Education and the Insurance and Commerce committees. He is a full-time lawmaker.

Hodges will face Democratic opponent Christie Craig.
