VA to host
ceremony
Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks is set to hold the annual Purple Heart Ceremony at 11 a.m. Aug. 4 in the auditorium, Building 3 at the medical center in Fayetteville.
Brig. Gen. Bernie Skoch, United States Air Force, retired, will be the keynote speaker for this event.
In addition to recognizing Purple Heart recipients present, the Patriot of the Year award will be presented during the ceremony.

Land trust

The Northwest Arkansas Land Trust is hosting a workshop in its series of Conservation Win-Win Workshops for Benton and Washington counties from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at Pratt Place Inn and Barn.
Designed for regional decision-makers, including city planners, real estate professionals, elected officials, landscape architects and business and community leaders, the workshop will feature practical examples and resources for creating more profitable and longer lasting projects while improving communities through effective conservation strategies that protect landscapes, watersheds and wildlife.
This second annual workshop will feature presentations by Northwest Arkansas Land Trust, Specialized Real Estate Group, Beaver Water District, NWA Regional Planning Commission, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and others. An afternoon panel will include a conversation with regional conservation partners including Beaver Watershed Alliance, Illinois River Watershed Partnership, Arkansas Natural Heritage Association, Watershed Conservation Resource Center, Arkansas Archeological Society, The Nature Conservancy and Walton Family Foundation. The workshop will conclude with a networking reception.
The workshops are offered through NWALT’s LandWise Initiative, with support from the Walton Family Foundation, Beaver Water District, Beaver Watershed Alliance and the Arkansas Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
Continuing education credits are available and are sponsored by the Arkansas Chapter of the US Green Building Council. Registration is required.

Health Summit
in Fayetteville
Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks is set to hold a Community Health Summit beginning at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Fayetteville Town Center.
Veterans, family members and the community are invited to participate in this summit where they will have the opportunity to dialogue strategies for collaboration with the Veterans Administration regarding veterans’ needs in a variety of areas. Those in attendance will be able to help identify any challenges in meeting health care needs for veterans and work towards ensuring the VA is providing the best quality of care.
Key focus areas this year are pain management, suicide prevention, homelessness and justice involved veterans. There will also be a job fair in the afternoon for veterans seeking employment.
