CREATIVE CABARET

Show funds to aid LGBTQ homeless

There was a little something for everyone at Lucie's Place Cabaret, which took the stage July 17 at The Studio Theater in Little Rock. The family-friendly fundraiser featured music, dancing and poetry, all for the benefit of Lucie's Place, which serves young adult members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community.

Before the show, guests mingled, enjoyed drinks and snacks in the Lobby Bar and were entertained by singer and guitarist Maddie Clark-Robinson.

Alyson Courtney served as master of ceremonies for the show, which included entertainment by poets Crystal C. Mercer, Monica Clark Robinson, Bryan Borland and Seth Pennington; violinist Geoff Robson; dancer Kennedy Sample; and singers and musicians Mark Binns, CandySoul, Dustin Baylan, Kenneth Gaddie, Brooklyn Courtney-Moore, Beatrice Robinson, Blane Beaty, Erin Martinez Warner, John Willis, Karen Q. Clark and Bob Bidewell.

With about 100 in attendance, more than $2,000 was raised. Lucie's Place provides a safe living environment, job training and counseling services. The nonprofit also works to promote equality and acceptance for LGBTQ young adults.
