Little Rock television station KATV on Thursday named the hosts of its new afternoon show.

News director Nick Genty said on Twitter that reporter Elicia Dover and meteorologist Barry Brandt will co-host Good Afternoon Arkansas, which will air at 3 p.m. weekdays starting Sept. 5.

Dover, who joined the news team in 2013, said in a statement that she "is proud to take on this new role."

“As a lifelong Arkansan, I understand what matters to our viewers, and I’m thrilled to bring that to them every afternoon," she said.

Brandt, who celebrates 30 years on-air in central Arkansas this year, already appears on Channel 7 News Midday and Channel 7 News at 5 p.m.

The ABC affiliate said last month that the new hourlong program will be similar to its morning show, Good Morning Arkansas.

“After a long and exhaustive search for the perfect hosts, we realized that we had the perfect combo right here at home,” Genty said. “We are more than confident that our viewers will absolutely love this perfect blend of personality and credibility.”

The show will be broadcast live from KATV's studios in the River Market and on Main Street in downtown Little Rock. It will be the only locally produced afternoon program in the central Arkansas market.

“[KATV keeps] finding that viewers are hungry for more information,” Genty told Arkansas Online last month, noting that the afternoon show will bring in a somewhat more news-centered format than its morning counterpart.

Whereas Good Morning Arkansas features more singers and dancers, Good Afternoon Arkansas will bring “high social engagement” with viewers and fewer performances, he said.

But then they're owned by Sinclair and dumping opinions masking as news on us.

Good choice, but sorry I won't be watching them (or any other Channel 7 programming for that matter) after confirmation of what I already suspected -- that Channel 7 (and all other Sinclair-owned stations) are mandated to run right-wing propaganda segments.
