Style: Boots on the ground

Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk has been generally received as a one of the best war movies of recent years, but there has been some pushback from those who have objected to the tricky chronological structure Nolan uses and the facelessness of “the enemy” threatening the hemmed-in troops. Friday, our Philip Martin looks deeper at the film, the evacuation of Dunkirk’s role in history and other cinematic treatments of the battle in his On Film column.

But we’ve also got new movies — Piers Marchant has been enthusing over A Ghost Story since he saw it as Sundance; this week he finally gets to review it. And Dan Lybarger writes about Atomic Blonde. And we get a special double dose of Karen Martin’s weekly Home Movies column. All in Friday’s Style section in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
