Where I live: the Rector Heights subdivision, Hot Springs
Occupation: Retired photography professor, now making my own art. I have been working on a photography project for the last several years that documents the lower Delta region, especially the area around Helena. I make the images with the pre-digital technique of shooting on film and processing my work in my darkroom.
My favorite space is: The corner window in my living room where I can swing an armchair around to face outside when I want.
Why? Lots of reasons. The light is good for reading and writing. When I sit there and open the window, my cats Posey and Pearl come and sit on the window sill and keep me company. It looks out onto my flower garden and a bluebird house. My garden is planted with herbs and flowers that attract hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. It sometimes looks scraggly, but I still enjoy watching all the activity it generates.
Once or twice a year, the cats and I get to spend a couple weeks being entertained by watching the hardworking bluebird parents feeding their babies and chasing the squirrels away. If I am lucky, I even get to see them when they fly away.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Re-cover the armchair, which has been shredded at the corners by the cats.
