Fahrfromsober Great Cross Country Race

Usually known simply as the Great Cross Country Race, this annual event by the Little Rock Hash House Harriers is turning 40 and is being celebrated in Hash House style with a mini German festival.

For the unfamiliar, a Hash is when a lead runner (a hare) marks out an improvised course using flour so that other runners (the hounds) may follow. Each fun run culminates in a group celebration, including various (often adult) beverages.

The website describes the Little Rock Hash House Harriers as a "drinking club with a running problem." The club sponsors weekly runs on Wednesdays and Sundays, with a handful of special events throughout the year.

The Great Cross Country Race is a four-mile(ish) run that will start at 9 a.m. Saturday near Boyle Park Pavilion 2, 2000 Boyle Park Road, Little Rock.

Online registration costs $35 and is available through Friday (or until the 150 or so participant limit is reached). In addition to the run, there will be a costume contest, stein holding competition, a photo booth, German foods and refreshments.
