Walters Leads Naturals past Drillers

TULSA, Okla. — Zach Walters hit an RBI single in the seventh inning, leading the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to a 5-2 win over the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday.

Corey Toups scored on the play to tie the game 2-2 after he led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a groundout.

The Naturals took the lead for good in the eighth when Logan Moon hit an RBI double, bringing home Humberto Arteaga.

Sam Selman (4-2) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Karch Kowalczyk (3-3) took the loss in the Texas League game. Jake Newberry retired the side in order for his 10th save of the season.

With the win, NW Arkansas improved to 12-5 against Tulsa this season.

CARDINALS 4, TRAVELERS 2

Bruce Caldwell hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, and Dakota Hudson allowed just two runs over eight innings as the Springfield Cardinals topped the Arkansas Travelers 4-2 on Thursday.

Landon Beck got Chuck Taylor to ground out with a runner on first to end the game for his first save of the season.

The home run by Caldwell scored Oscar Mercado and was the game’s last scoring play.

The Cardinals tied the game 2-2 when Jesse Jenner hit a solo home run in the fifth.

Hudson (6-3) allowed eight hits while striking out five and walking one to get the win.
