Rex DeLoney

Where I live: My wife, Terri, and I live in the Fairway Woods subdivision of Otter Creek in Little Rock.

Occupation: artist and educator. I have worked at Little Rock Central High School for the past 12 years as an art teacher and chair of the fine arts department. My artwork is Soulful Expressions. The images I create convey messages of hope, faith and the everyday joys and struggles of life, while exploring symbolic meanings and responses to the use of color.

My favorite space is: our dining room, also known as "The Gallery"

Why? We love to host our families for all the big holidays and family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving. We usually average close to 25 to 30 family and friends during these events. We also use this spot for game parties. The most fun part of these gatherings is to have the family view what they have started to call "The Gallery," my artwork, which adorns the dining room walls. I like to randomly rearrange my paintings on the walls to create a warm atmosphere and cultivate a sense of family.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add more space to the dining room. Terri always wants more seating around the table and more wall space would allow more art. One can never have enough food, family or fine art.
