BC Dems

Historical Society
Members and all interested persons are invited to join the South Madison County Historical Society in a tour of the historic town of Combs on Monday. Meet at 1 p.m. in front of the Baptist Church to receive instructions from the tour guide. This will be a driving and walking tour of several places of interest. Both written and verbal history will be shared. Many side-track stories will be told as participants move along. Meet the folks just off the ancestral trail the club has been following.
In case of heavy rain or extreme heat the tour may have to be canceled.

Calico Cut-Ups
The Calico Cut-Ups is a local quilt guild in Bella Vista. The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Bella Vista. The speaker will be Kelly Ashton with a presentation called "Sixty Degrees of Inspiration."
Ashton is a quilt maker, teacher, lecturer and fervent fabric collector. Ashton is passionate about quilt making, and there is more information about her at kellyquilter.com.
She will be holding a workshop called "Tumbling Blocks" from 9 a.m. to noon Monday. The class demonstrates using shading of fabrics to create a quilt. The cost of the workshop is $20.
If you are not a member of the guild, the cost of the meeting is $5 to help pay for the cost of the speaker.

Toastmasters
The Twin Lakes Toastmasters Club in Fayetteville offers the skills and confidence needed to effectively express oneself in any given situation. Professionals, students, stay-at-home parents and retirees are welcome to attend the meetings and gain communication skills. The group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 26 and each Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1021 W. Sycamore St. in Fayetteville.

Dem women
The Washington County Democratic women will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mermaids Restaurant, 2217 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville. Members will hear from a panel of young professionals about how online/social media messaging and mobilization matters now more than ever. Learn or increase skills for using different platforms to engage in conversation, information sharing and to stay connected. Bring a fully charged cell phone to the meeting. There will be a social time and buffet at 5:30 p.m. The $16 meal is optional. Reservations are required for those who do plan to eat.

Lions
In Arkansas, the Lions will hold their 99th annual convention Wednesday through Saturday, and Lions Club International will be holding their 100th anniversary convention and celebration in Chicago, where it all started.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, which coincides with the big Lions parade in Chicago, Lions from Benton and Washington counties will meet for breakfast at the Golden Corral in Rogers. They will celebrate this milestone, but also wish to remind Northwest Arkansas that Lions provide various services in their communities. There are 12 clubs and nearly 250 members in the two counties, including Bella Vista, Bentonville (two clubs), Centerton, Elkins, Fayetteville, Gentry, Gravette, Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Rogers and Siloam Springs.

USS Snook
The USS Snook base of the United States Submarine Veterans will hold its July meeting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Rogers Catfish House in Rogers. All submarine sailors, past and present, are invited.
