Cleanup planned for Buffalo River

Buffalo National River Partners, in partnership with the National Park Service, will host a river cleanup from Hasty Access to Carver on July 7, beginning at 9 a.m.

The upper district of the Buffalo National River has dropped to a level that is favorable for removing litter and large debris from the riverbanks and gravel bars.

A 4-mile float will be along primarily flat water, with a few intermittent riffles. Because the section of river is low, cleanup participants will likely encounter areas where they have to get out and drag their boats along for short distances. Volunteers should expect to be on the river until about 3 p.m.

Volunteers can register and secure boats for the cleanup at bnrpartners.org/. Registration is limited to 25 volunteers.
