Thirty 11th-grade girls from area high schools served as Angels of Hope for the 2016-2017 school year, with their volunteer duties culminating in their attendance at the 20th Century Club Hope Ball, held Feb. 25 at the Statehouse Convention Center.
The Angels of Hope was established in 2008 as a way to promote "service above self" in teenagers. Each girl must log at least 25 hours of volunteer service, with much of that time earned through required activities at local hospitals with cancer treatment facilities, the 20th Century Club's Lodge and cancer-related events. Gina Rafferty was chairman of the Angels of Hope.
The 2016-2017 Angels of Hope include Aubrey Adams, daughter of Tiffany and Jon Adams, Little Rock Christian Academy; Phoebe Bruffett, daughter of Shawnee and Wayne Bruffett, Pulaski Academy; Josie Calderara, daughter of Allison and Keith Caldarera, Mount St. Mary Academy; Stella Caldwell, daughter of Lacey and Jay Caldwell, Pulaski Academy; Abby Chandler, daughter of Angie and Matt Chandler, Mount St. Mary; Maddalynn Davis, daughter of Jefferson and Debbie Davis and Suzette and Chuck Hamilton, Mount St. Mary; and Sydney Eagan, daughter of Marilyn and Dr. Bo Eagan, Mount St. Mary.
