Dance Fusion to hit UAFS; Hamilton set for Memphis

Pieces created by Western Arkansas Ballet's pre-professional company members and staff will be on display for the seventh annual Dance Fusion, 2:30 p.m. today, Breedlove Auditorium, University of Arkansas at Fort Smith campus, 5210 Grand Ave., Fort Smith.

Dance workshop

Christian-focused New Creation Dance Company will hold its "Springing to Life" dance workshop, with classes in a variety of styles for dancers of all ages (including a session for 2-year-olds) and levels, March 20 at Irby Dance Studio, 2324 Durwood Road, Little Rock. Fees range from $15-$30, with discounts available for registration by March 13. Poppins auditions

The Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market St., Benton, will hold auditions by appointment, 6-10 p.m. March 17 and noon-5 p.m. March 18 for the musical Mary Poppins (music and lyrics by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman, book by Julian Fellowes), with callbacks, if needed, March 19. Director Mark A. Burbank and choreographer Jenny Johnston are seeking an "ethnically diverse company" in a large range of ages (age 8-13 for the roles of Jane and Michael Banks, 16 and older for all other roles).

Prepare a 32-bar uptempo song or ballad that shows off your voice and range, preferably standard Broadway music (songs from the show are acceptable but also prepare another appropriate selection), and provide sheet music for the accompanist (no tracks or a capella auditions). Also provide a head shot and resume if you have one. Auditioners may also be asked to attend a dance callback and/or read from the script.

Preservation list

March 17 is the deadline for Arkansas residents and organizations to submit nominations to Preserve Arkansas for buildings, structures, sites and other places for its 2017 Most Endangered Places list, highlighting historically and architecturally significant properties throughout the state that are worthy of preservation. Fellowship applications

April 14 is the deadline to apply for the Arkansas Arts Council's Individual Artist Fellowships, recognizing "individual artistic ability and creative excellence to encourage the [artists'] continuing artistic development." Fellowships this year are available in Literary Arts -- Writing of Creative Nonfiction; Performing Arts -- Cinematic Arts, Director of Narrative or Documentary Film; and Visual Arts -- Contemporary Craft.

Applicants must be at least age 25 and an Arkansas resident for at least one year at the time of application. A panel of arts professionals will select up to nine fellowships of $4,000 each. Hamilton to Orpheum

The Orpheum Theatre, 203 S. Main St., Memphis, will host the touring production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton during its 2018-2019 Broadway Season (exact dates to be announced). Subscribers to the 2017-2018 season will have first crack at tickets when they go on sale.
