• Fans of the work of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo may want to check out an exhibition of her work at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla.

"Frida Kahlo at the Dali" is a fairly small exhibit -- just 15 paintings and five pencil drawings, along with a number of photographs. The exhibition also has a collection of flowers and plants representative of those in Kahlo's garden at Casa Azul, her home in Mexico City, on the grounds of the museum's Avant-garden.

The exhibition continues through April 19.

• "Native Fashion Now" is an exhibition that explores American Indian contemporary fashion design from the mid-20th-century to current designers. It runs through Sept. 4 at The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, George Gustav Heye Center, in New York.

Originally organized by the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Mass., the exhibit examines the complex realms where fashion meets art, cultural identity, politics and commerce.

Through nearly 70 works, "Native Fashion Now" explores the vitality of American Indian fashion designers ranging from mid-20th-century designers such as Charles Loloma (Hopi Pueblo) to today's designers such as Patricia Michaels (Taos Pueblo). Organizers say this is the first show to emphasize the long-standing, evolving and growing relationship between fashion and creativity in American Indian cultures.

• The Buffalo Bayou Partnership and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston are presenting "Rain: Magdalena Fernandez" at the Houston Cistern, the inaugural art installation at the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern at 105 Sabine St. The Cistern is a 1926 underground city reservoir restored and opened to the public in 2016.

The installation features 2iPM009 -- an abstract video work by Venezuelan artist Fernandez -- projected onto the 221 concrete columns of the vast underground space.

The cistern, described on the park's website as a structure reminiscent of the ancient Roman cisterns in Istanbul, is an 87,500-square-foot-space. The concrete columns are 25 feet high. The cistern was discovered in 2010 during the development of the 160-acre Buffalo Bayou Park, which is west of downtown Houston.
