I-49 lane closings set in Springdale

Construction on Interstate 49 in Springdale will require regular overnight lane closures through Wednesday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Motorists traveling north on I-49 on a 3-mile section from a mile south of U.S. 412 to a mile north of Elm Springs Road should expect lane closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and controlled by message boards, traffic drums and signs, the department said. The closures began Wednesday.

The work is part of a $6.2 million project to widen the bridge and make other improvements to the Elm Springs interchange.
