Christian Women

Ladies of Northwest Arkansas are invited to the meeting of the Christian Women's Connection Group from noon to 1:30 p.m. today at Mermaids Restaurant in Fayetteville. The speaker will be Anita Agers Brooks from Steelville, Mo., and the topic will be "Getting Through What You Can't Get Over." The special feature will be presented by Rick's Bakery in Fayetteville. The cost of the luncheon is $15.

The Bella Vista Computer Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Room A at Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. Ryan Holland from Office Depot will present a program on best technology practices.

The Kingsdale Squares will dance at 7 p.m. Monday at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista with Johnny Eubanks calling. Lessons will be at 5:45 p.m. prior to the dance.

Newcomers

The Fayetteville Newcomers club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road in Fayetteville, for coffee, refreshments and a program. Newcomers to the Northwest Arkansas area are invited to attend.

NAMI

The National Alliance for Mental Illness of Northwest Arkansas will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Ozark Guidance Center, David Williams Building, 2400 S. 48th St. in Springdale.

NAMI Family Support Group of Northwest Arkansas is a peer-led support group for family members, caregivers and consumers. It is designed to improve the lives of adult (18 years and older) loved ones living with mental illness and to support those who care for them. The group meets on the second Monday of each month. No specific medical therapy or medication is endorsed or recommended. Meetings are free and confidential.

Legion 341

Bella Vista American Legion Post 341 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Post Hall, 1889 Bella Vista Way in Bella Vista.

In addition to meetings, the post hosts "Coffee with the Commander" on the first and third Saturdays. On the second and fourth Saturdays a breakfast buffet is available. The post hosts "Taco Tuesday" each week, followed by "Fish Friday." Wednesday nights are devoted to trivia contests and Thursday nights are karaoke. Saturday evenings are dance nights, beginning at 7 p.m. featuring local musical groups, and is open to the public. Additionally, the meeting hall is open to the public for rental on an as-available basis.

AAUW

The American Association of University Women Fayetteville Branch will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Presbyterian Church in the Witherspoon fellowship room. Social time begins at 5:30 p.m. The program will be presented by Mayra Esquivel and Irvin Comacho, who will talk about their experiences as immigrants and the justice work that they are doing with the immigrant community in Northwest Arkansas.

The mission of AAUW is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Union Veterans

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the General Store on the grounds of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson St. in Springdale.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the true history of the Civil War and to the legacy of those who fought to save the United States of America.

Stitchers

Bella Vista Anytime Stitchers will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive. Members Barb T. and Margo W. will be presenting a mystery program, and there will be a show and tell to show personal projects that have been completed.

The Anytime Stitchers meet the third Wednesday of each month, except November and December. The group is made up of new and experienced quilters who meet to share techniques, project ideas and to make quilts for charities. Everyone is welcome.

DAR

The Ozark Mountains Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at Simmons Bank, 3975 W. New Hope Road in Rogers. Dorothy Miller will be speaking about women's issues. Anyone interested in joining DAR is welcome.

Hill 'N Dale

The Hill 'N Dale Hiking Club of Bella Vista will hike Friday in the Rob and Melani Walton Nature Preserve near Garfield. This will be 5 to 51/2 miles of moderate hiking.

Meet at 8:30 a.m. in the upper level parking area of Harps in Bella Vista to carpool to Garfield and the trailhead. Bring a sack lunch to eat on the lake dock. Nonmembers are invited.

Ark-Oma

The Ark-Oma Square Dance Club will be dancing at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center in Springdale. Monty Hackler will be the featured caller, with mainstream and plus-level dancing.

Legion 100

The commander of American Legion Post 100 invites the community to join him for coffee and doughnuts and see what the American Legion is doing in the community. "Coffee with the Commander" is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 100, 711 Persimmon St. in Rogers.

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 100 will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the post. The SAL is open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service.

The monthly meeting of the Fleet Reserve Association and Auxiliary will be held at 2 p.m. March 19 at the Western Sizzlin', U.S. 412 West in Springdale.

GOP Women

The Benton County Republican Women's club will meet at noon March 21 at Pleasant Crossing Golden Corral in Rogers. The guest speaker will be Brenda Vassaur Taylor of Conduit for Commerce. She will present information on some of the current state legislation.

BCRW meets the third Tuesday of each month with networking beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Photographers

The Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas, in conjunction with Hobbs State Park Conservation Area, will hold a photography tour of trail trees from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the state park. Park interpreter Al Knox will describe the trees on the grounds and how Native Americans shaped them as geographical markers. Knox will then lead a photo walk to photograph the trees.

The event is open to all cameras and photography levels and is free and open to the public. Registration at PSNWA's website is available for members and guests.
