FAYETTEVILLE -- A Winslow woman was arrested Monday after investigators said she went to her ex-boyfriend's home and started a fire, according to a probable cause report from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Sandra June McCain, 41, of 17404 S. U.S. 71 was arrested in connection with arson and residential burglary.

Firefighters arrived at a house completely afire about 1 p.m. Monday at 21597 Woods Road, said Dewey Drummond, Boston Mountain Fire Department chief. No one was hurt, but the family lost all their belongings, he said.

The fire was too severe to save the home, Drummond said.

The home, valued at roughly $20,000, was about 67 years old and 1,066 square feet, county property records show. The home was listed in "poor" condition.

Drummond said the home had been in the same family for years. The property belongs to Del Smith, according to property records.

Smith has several children, but none were home at the time of the blaze, Drummond said.

McCain went to the house at 12:56 p.m. and hurriedly left, according to the affidavit. Video surveillance shows McCain at the home, then shows flames about a minute after she left, the report shows.

A Road Department employee told deputies he saw a vehicle matching McCain's pull into the driveway, which is a dead-end drive, according to the report. The employee saw the same vehicle drive away at a high speed, according to the report.

The employee saw smoke, drove to the house and saw the fire, according to the affidavit.

McCain lives about 2 miles away from the Smith house. She told investigators she returned to her home about noon, according to the affidavit.

McCain was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond Tuesday. A court hearing is set for Wednesday.
