Principal named at Parkview High

Randy Rutherford, the principal of North Little Rock High School since 2014, is Little Rock School District Superintendent Mike Poore's choice for principal at Parkview High School.

Rutherford, 55, will succeed Dexter Booth in the Parkview job when Booth retires at the end of this school year, the Little Rock District announced Thursday.

Prior to working in North Little Rock, Rutherford was superintendent in the Bryant School District and has a lengthy work history in the Little Rock district. He was principal at J.A. Fair High from 2005-06, and assistant principal at Central High from 2002-05 and at Pulaski Heights Middle School from 1998-99.

Poore called Rutherford a "veteran educator" who is "uniquely qualified" for the Parkview leadership role because of his early tie to the system.

Rutherford graduated from the University of Central Arkansas and received his master's degree from Henderson State University.

Rutherford will begin his role as principal at Parkview on July 1 at an annual salary of $112,414.
