Charity Ball raises $10,000 for Haitian medical mission

Guests in formal attire and sparkling masks dined and danced March 4 at Embassy Suites Little Rock to help raise money for Haiti. Headed by Dr. Carl Gilbert, the event featured a silent auction, a seated dinner, contests and entertainment by La Voyce and poet Tasha Moore, also known at StoryTellHer. Partygoers voted on who was wearing the best masks with prizes going to Kenyetta and Lee Townsend, Olive Fayengo and Muskie Harris. Dance music was by Recovery 2005.

Committee members included Sharon Bella, Ashley Benton, Gigi Gilbert, Candice Graham, Kim Harris, Joyce Lyons, Cheryl Martin, Marie Mesidorand Moore. They helped raise more than $10,000.

"Our goal is to buy medicine for the medical mission trip to Haiti and to help a local school and clinic in that country," Gilbert said.
