Arkansas woman dies after van rolls over in 2-vehicle crash

BENTONVILLE — A woman was killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash in Bentonville, according to the Arkansas State Police.

A 41-year-old passenger of a GMC Safari, Vera Holt of Bentonville, was killed as a result of the wreck at the intersection of Southeast J and Southeast 28th streets, state police said in a preliminary report.

Police responded to the scene at 9:20 p.m. after the van ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a Ford Fusion, causing the van to roll over, according to a Bentonville Police Department news release.

Bentonville firefighters extricated the van’s 42-year-old driver, Marries Walton, and transported him to an area hospital, according to the release.

The driver of the Fusion, 28-year-old Timothy J. Gall of Fort Worth, was also reported injured, authorities said.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described in the preliminary report as clear and dry.

Holt's death was one of 97 reported so far this year on an Arkansas road, according to preliminary figures.
