Glenn Derricks, 25, of Dallas was arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Ashdown Police Department on a charge of attempted capital murder, said a department official. Derricks was apprehended in a city park at 1211 Gordon Drive, she said.

On Monday night, authorities received a call from a nearby county that an armed and dangerous person could be heading to Little River County in a white Chevrolet Malibu.

About 8:30 p.m., a deputy saw the car near West Main and Fourth streets in Ashdown, and pulled it over, sheriff's office detective Glenn Gross said. A passenger got out and fired seven shots toward the deputy's vehicle, than ran away, Gross said.

The gunfire hit the car but not the officer, police said.

The woman who was driving the Malibu was taken into custody Monday and interviewed, then later released, police said.
