• BOONEVILLE -- Strong winds cut a 300-foot swatch through the city shortly before midnight Saturday and caused more than $200,000 damages, authorities estimated. No injuries were reported but the storm did extensive damage to downtown businesses, ripped the roofs off several houses and uprooted hundreds of trees. Several Booneville residents reported hearing a loud roaring noise as if a tornado had passed overhead but none said they saw a tornado funnel.

• Portions of four streets in North Little Rock's historic Argenta neighborhood will be off limits to parking during baseball games and other events once Dickey-Stephens Park opens. The North Little Rock City Council agreed 8-0 Monday night to create a permit program for a much smaller area than initially proposed in order to preserve parking for neighborhood residents only during ballpark events. A companion ordinance not only established fines for violators within the restricted parking district, but raised parking fines citywide. The city-funded, $33.6 million home of the Arkansas Travelers opens April 12, just two blocks from the closest Argenta Historic District homes. The ballpark is still under construction on the east side of the Broadway Bridge.
