Bad Seed

Under an ostensibly sweet, charming exterior, the daughter (Brooklyn Courtney-Moore) of a prominent couple in a small Southern town (Drew Ellis, Katy Fraley) may be hiding something a lot more disturbing in Bad Seed by Maxwell Anderson, based on the novel by William March, opening Friday at the Weekend Theater, West Seventh and Chester streets. Documentary debut

The Arkansas Sounds Music Series will screen the public premiere of AETN's documentary Dream Land: Little Rock's West 9th Street, 7 p.m. Friday at Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock. The film features historians and local residents regaling the history of the once-vibrant black business and entertainment district, home to Taborian Hall and the Dreamland Ballroom. Doors open at 6. Fashion statement

Bridgette Fedak, a designer for women's clothier Lilly Pulitzer, will give a talk titled "What Year Is It Again??" at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Arkansas Arts Center in MacArthur Park, East Ninth and Commerce streets, Little Rock. She'll provide insight on her background, describing how growing up abroad influenced her at a young age and taught her about fashion and will discuss the dynamics of her team and how she finds inspiration for her designs.

It's part of the center's Art of Fashion lecture series. Sponsor is the Lilly Pulitzer Store at Dillard's, Park Plaza, which will host a post-lecture fashion show and pop-up shop. The 75-member North Little Rock Community Concert Band will open its 35th season at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Patrick Henry Hays Center, 401 W. Pershing Blvd., North Little Rock. Disney in El Dorado

The South Arkansas Arts Center, 110 E. Fifth St., El Dorado, will hold auditions for Disney's Beauty and the Beast, 6 p.m. April 7 and 10 a.m. April 8. Director Monroe Moore and musical director Chris McCroskey will cast "all ages, heights, physical types and performance levels," according to a news release, in character roles (four women, seven men and one boy or girl), a large ensemble of 24-30 adults and teens and a 12-20 member children's ensemble, ages 7-12. Be prepared to sing a number from any Broadway show. The center will hold early registration 6-8 p.m. April 6; you may submit a video audition.
