Travs-Drillers rained out; doubleheader set for today

As hundreds of schoolchildren hiked in the rain toward the covered Dickey-Stephens Park concourse in North Little Rock, Disney-themed music played from the scoreboard speakers.

It wasn't long afterward that it was announced the Arkansas Travelers' game with the Tulsa Drillers was being postponed. The game was the third postponement due to weather this season for the Travs.

Wednesday's game with Tulsa will be made up today with a doubleheader starting at 5:10 p.m. Both games will be seven innings.

The Travs made up their April 10 postponement with the San Antonio Missions with a doubleheader the following day, which they split. The Travs were rained out again Saturday in Springfield, Mo. The two teams will make up that game with another doubleheader June 14.

Frequent rainouts and doubleheaders aren't unusual for the Travs. They played seven doubleheaders in each of the 2015 and 2016 seasons to make up for games postponed due to weather. Their record is 15-13 in those games.

Travs catcher Marcus Littlewood has been very productive lately. He was a combined 7 for 9 with 3 doubles and 6 RBI batting fifth Monday and Tuesday. Littlewood hit his first home run since 2015 on Monday and went 4 for 4 in Tuesday night's 6-5 victory over Tulsa when teammate Kyle Waldrop hit a walk-off home run.

Seattle's No. 4 prospect, right-handed pitcher Andrew Moore will start the second game today, five days after his six-inning no-decision against Springfield. Moore was drafted by the Mariners in the second round of the 2015 draft and was promoted to Class AA Jackson last May. He has since gone 10-4 with a 2.85 earned run average.
