CHAMPIONS OF CHILDREN’S HEALTH

Children's Hospital honors its own at awards ceremony

Dedicated members of the local children's health community gathered at the Clinton Presidential Center the night of April 27 for the Arkansas Children's Hospital's Ruth Olive Beal Recognition Awards.

Before doling out honors, hospital Chief Executive Officer Marcy Doderer told the crowd it's an exciting time to be in pediatric health care and there is much work to be done to ensure a healthier tomorrow for the children of Arkansas. "But, this work begins with champions like you -- every one of you -- the champions who choose to support and serve the children of our state. Champions who choose to devote their lives to children, to their causes and who lead with strength and conviction."

The Drs. Joanna J. & Robert Seibert Award honoring teamwork went to the team for Children at Risk including Dr. Karen Farst, Dr. Rachel Clingenpeel, Toss Worthington and Carol Maxwell. Dr. Tony Johnson received the Dr. Tom Ed Townsend Award honoring a community physician who is a consistent supporter of Arkansas Children's Hospital. Dr. Laura James received the Dr. Robert H. Fiser Jr. Research Achievement Award.

The Ruth Olive Beal Award, given to an individual who constantly displays the values of safety, teamwork, compassion and excellence, was given to Dr. Stacie Jones. Special recognition was given to Dr. Richard Jacobs, the hospital's chief pediatrician.
