Area teams playing for state titles

Several high school teams in the Three Rivers Edition coverage area will compete for state championships this weekend in Fayetteville.

The Cabot Panthers baseball team will try to win its first state title when the Panthers take on Springdale Har-Ber in the Class 7A title game at 10 a.m. Friday at Baum Stadium. Cabot advanced to the state-title game with a 14-4 win over Bryant on Saturday.

The Cabot Lady Panthers soccer team will return to the Class 7A state-title game for the second consecutive season and will get a rematch with Bentonville. The game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday at Razorback Field. A year ago, Bentonville beat Cabot 3-0 in the finals.

Three-time defending Class 3A state softball champion Bald Knob will play Rose Bud in the state-title game for the second consecutive season at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Bogle Park. A year ago, the Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Ramblers 1-0 to complete a perfect season.

The Harding Academy Wildcats will play Greenland for the Class 3A state baseball championship at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Baum Stadium.
