I-430 lanes to close for blasting work

Blasting operations at the Interstate 430/Cantrell Road interchange in Little Rock will shut down all lanes of the interstate and highway for periods up to 15 minutes today and Sunday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Workers will close all northbound and southbound lanes of I-430 in the vicinity of the interchange for 15-minute intervals between 6 a.m. and noon both days, weather permitting. All eastbound and westbound lanes of Cantrell, also called Arkansas 10, will be closed.

Traffic on both highways will be slow-rolled to a complete stop by the Arkansas Highway Police, the department said. Once the blast occurs, each roadway will be swept for debris and reopened. There are no detours.

The blasting operations are part of the work to build a new ramp to carry traffic from Cantrell west to I-430 north, the department said.
