Sherwood leaders shift meeting time

Sherwood residents attending City Council meetings will need to arrive an hour earlier starting next month.

The Sherwood City Council unanimously agreed Monday night to move up the start time for its monthly meetings by one hour to 6 p.m.

The change is to take effect with the council's next regular meeting, on June 26.

"It's been discussed before, maybe a year or two ago," Mayor Virginia Young said Tuesday. "It was brought up again at our last meeting as potentially something we would want to consider."

Young said "a little survey" showed that the Little Rock Board of Directors and city councils in North Little Rock and Maumelle start meetings at 6 p.m. and that officials "thought we would give it a try."

"I think 6 o'clock will be a good time," she said.

The Sherwood City Council meets the fourth Monday of every month.
